From Foundation to Finish

"For those of you who don’t know me through work, I’m Sam Dawson, and I’ve been part of the Meek’s Lumber team in Redding for the past 15 years. As the Northern Regional Manager, I represent nearly 100 hard working guys and gals who call Redding home.

As we continue to take steps closer to being ready and able to start rebuilding the homes lost in our community, I felt it was important to look back at how long Meek’s has been a part of this area’s history.

Meek’s opened its first store in the north state on South Market Street in 1947 and for the past 70+ years the people in Redding and the surrounding areas have supported us. From the local community who shop for hardware and other building materials, to our great contractor partners throughout the region who build small and large projects, we’ve been very fortunate to be part of the building community for all of these years.

Now that we have the opportunity to be part of the team that helps rebuild our neighborhoods after what’s been the worst natural disaster our area has ever seen, it’s important that we give back to the community that’s taken care of us for so many years.

I’m happy to announce that on all rebuilding projects related to the Carr Fire that any of our local contractor partners are building, Meek’s will donate a percentage of the cost of all delivered materials to the Shasta Community Disaster Relief Fund.

I’m incredibly proud of how this community has come together and responded to this tragedy, and I’m grateful to be in a position where our teams can be part of helping so many families as our local construction teams help rebuild their homes."

As we receive updates from cities, counties, companies, and more, we will share them here with you all. Times are difficult, but we know that we will be able to get through this together.

Thank you to all of the brave men and women out on the front lines of this fire, helping to keep us all safe. As a community, we have a long road ahead of us. Please continue to stay safe.
